In the presence of greatness

In life’s journey, I have had the honor of loitering in the presence of some incredible people. I have shaked hands with James Doolittle and Chuck Yeager and had dinner with Frank Borman. Their names conjure up visions of courageous men who fear nothing. When meeting them, I could not help but feel that I was in the presence of greatness, knowing that each were pioneers in aviation, each of them successful in different ways.

At 34 years old, I have come to the realization that I spent the first 30 years of my life in the presence of greatness every time I spoke to my grandparents. They did not orbit the moon or break the sound barrier, but they lived good lives and raised successful kids (and at least one wonderful grandson). I hope that one day I can achieve the level of greatness each of you inspired me to achieve. I am honored to dedicate Victory Days to the lives of S/Sgt Leo and Mildred Newby and Clyde and Joyce Sharkey. Godspeed. I love and miss you. ~Jason Sharkey

A Tribute to Veterans

The song was originally written in dedication to the veterans of WW II. As we lose the men and women of the 1940’s to time and age, we are grateful that the wondrous technology of the age of the Internet can deliver this tribute and message of thanks to every surviving veteran of the Second World War, their families and descendants. We also want to honor and remember our veterans of following wars. Bless you all.
